Tribute to the Dough Boy

So we had a devastating trip to Walmart yesterday. That being said, we need to give a little background information.

One day while visiting Walmart, Tucker notice a big white thing on top of one of the freezer isles. He kept pointing and calling it a snowman since it was around Christmas. Making sure he truly understood what he was seeing, I gave him the proper name- The Pillsbury Dough Boy. It had to be explained a few more times but that seemed to do the trick. As we proceded throughout the rest of the store, Tucker would look very pointedly at various men in white shirts and say "Dough Boy!" I would quickly explain that we were going to see the dough boy in the freezer section and that he wasn't calling them the Dough Boy.

So since that day, anytime Tucker sees an advertisement on tv or eats a biscuit for breakfast, we get very excited about the Dough Boy. He assosicates Walmart with the dough boy. Tucker knows the route to Walmart and can identify Walmart. Once he knows where we are headed, there is no end to calling out for Dough Boy until we go and visit Dough Boy in the freezer section. Dough Boy has been blown kisses, waved at, told "I love You, too", offered goldfish to eat or books to read. Dough Boy has become Tucker's good friend at Walmart.

Well, yesterday, in route to see our friend, we discovered that Dough Boy was not there. Tucker looked so upset. But I quickly explained that Dough Boy probably had to go to another store or go home. That explaination seemed to be enough and Tucker just kept repeating to others that Dough Boy had gone bye bye. As we were finishing our shopping and Mommy was talking on the phone, Tucker suddenly started calling Dough Boy and pointing. As our luck would have it, Dough Boy was being pushed away in a shopping cart (buggy as Tucker calls it) right in front of us. I quickly had to hang up the phone and we dashed over to see Dough Boy. Apparently this man was helping Walmart out by taking Dough Boy home with him. I think he thought I was crazy when I asked if Tucker could say good bye to it. He gave us about two seconds before dashing off. My poor sweet boy looked like he had just lost his dog or something. All he could say was "Dough Boy bye bye" and "Dough Boy in buggy."

So that was our devasting day at Walmart. Maybe this is just one more reason to stop shopping at the good old megamart! Tucker will just have to enjoy his cut outs of Dough Boy instead!
