As usual, our little man is growning and has officiallybecome our big man...or big boy. The past month (or two) have been very busy. It has seemed like we have had something every weekend and busy days in between! But not too busy for Tucker! He is great about going with the flow and doing it all!
One of our favorite things to do on our weekly agenda has been Kindermusik! We have been lucky to take our second class with Mrs. Heather this spring. Tucker has loved every moment. At times I worried about how he was handling himself as a listener or participating in the group (Yes that would be the teacher coming out in me). But then I would remind myself that he wasn't even two yet and most of the other kids in the class were already two and even older. He really handled himself well and had a great time each week. He loved many of the songs, enjoyed the instruments, learned from story time on the carpet, looked forward to heart stamps from his teacher, and made a few new friends. Definitley a great prep for school in the fall. What is really great is now that class has ended, Tucker is still singing his favorite songs. He loves to sing "Bow Wow Wow". Here is how it goes- Bow Wow Wow, Whose dog are thou, I am Tucker's dog, Bow Wow Wow. Very cute when we are walking in the neighborhood and Tucker breaks out into his Thou song! Love it! I believe Kindermusik has really brought out his enjoyment of music. He likes to sing his ABC's (skipping quite a few letters but hitting on the key ones and end with "next time won't you sing with Elmo"), Bow Wow Wow, Walk Along Rover, She'll Be Comin Around the Mountain, etc. We are sad that Kindermusik has ended for now and are hoping to join back up in the Fall.
We have also stayed busy here at home. We have started tackling our long list of things to do to our house. Tucker is such a great helper and he tells you that too. He like to say "Tucker help". He wants to be in the middle of it all and help you with everything! He likes to use his shovel and help in the garden. Tucker enjoys pulling his chair up and helping cook- even if we aren't cooking! He wants to help clean- thank goodness for extra swifers. These days Tucker's motto is Tucker Do It! Tucker help! I believe this is the age and phase we are at. He wants to try and do things himself and wants to help us as well. If he doesn't get to, watch out! The meltdowns have started! We are trying hard to deal with these the best we can and not feed into them. Hopefully, one of these days he will learn it isn't getting him anywhere. Otherwise, it is great fun to have him help!
Tucker likes to tell you he is Daddy's big boy. And he is! They love their evenings together. He loves it when Daddy gets home and he wants to go for a ride in Daddy's big truck! If there is an errand to run, they put on their hats, head out and often search for diggers in the process. Tucker is into many things these days including diggers! Thank goodness for the construction in our neighborhood and on I65. Tucker (and Mommy) is learning all about bobcats, bull dozers, backhoes, trackhoes, cranes, tractors, lawnmowers, etc. He loves Lowe's and when we pass by begs to visit the lawnmowers! All boy! And a big boy at that! We took his crib down this week. He started sleeping in it on Tuesday evening and has slept great ever since. We wondering if some of his waking during the night was due to discomfort from getting too big for his crib. We couldn't lower it anymore and he had already discovered how to climb in and out. Now he sleeps in the big boy bed. And it is great. We cuddle up for a story or two or three, and they cuddle for a few minutes for night night. No more rocking for our sweet baby boy. Have to admit, this was a harder transition for Mommy than for Tucker. This change was just as hard to me as when we moved him from his cradle in our room to his crib in his room at 8 weeks. Wow how time as flown by! In just two months, our big boy will be 2! Amazing!
